A Licensed Clinical Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C) has a masters or doctorate degree in Social Work and is licensed by the state to provide services to individuals, families and groups. The Clinical Social Worker works with individuals using a macro-systems approach. The macro- approach takes into account the people and systems (culture, society, family, and other influences) that affect the individual. Therapists who are clinical social workers receive further training in various therapeutic approaches to work with the clients in a counseling setting. LCSW-C’s are trained to identify and treat mental health diagnosis and can work with individuals, families, couples, and groups.
